Les cours d’improvisation au LCMC sont destinés aux étudiants de n’importe quel instrument: guitare, piano, flûtes, violon, violoncelle…
Bien que cette proposition soit prévue pour les musiciens et musiciennes avancé-e-s, c’est-à-dire avec un certain niveau technique sur leur instrument, nous pouvons commencer l’improvisation en général dès la deuxième année. L’improvisation va accompagner le développement de l’instrument sous un autre angle. Cela va renforcer votre contact avec l’instrument en partant de l’idée que la complexité de l’improvisation est étroitement liée au niveau technique de l’instrument.
L’élève va apprendre à developer une imagination musicale et la matérialiser avec son instrument. L’élève va apprendre différentes traditions d’improvisation musicale: l’improvisation de la renaissance, techniques de diminution baroques; improvisation de tradition orale notamment l’Afrique – Mali, Burkina Faso; improvisation Jazz, Blues, musique latino américaine – cubaine et brésilienne ou l’improvisation de la musique moderne.
Un approfondissement vers la composition est possible dans ce cadre. Pour la composition, le programme diffère de celui d’improvisation. Nous nous focaliserons sur l’étude de l’harmonie et du contrepoint ce qui fournira les bases pour pouvoir écrire sa propre musique. Cette étude sera faite dans les termes de l’harmonie classique et ensuite adaptée vers le style musical que l’élève veut maîtriser.

The improvisation lessons at LCMC-CERN are intended for students of any musical instrument: piano, flute, cello, violin, guitar.
This program is created for advanced students willing to create their own music, improvise within their instrument, either in a particular music style or as a free improvisation. Nevertheless, improvisation lessons can be given to anyone as far as he or she has achieved the first year of his/ her instrument. The improvisation program will strengthen the musical and technical skills of the student. The student will learn how to expand a musical imagination and how to materialize it within his/her instrument.
The student will learn different traditions of musical improvisation: from renaissance and baroque to specific musical thinking and improvisation of different oral traditions, this could be Blues, Jazz, or by geographic places: African music, East Europe, Flamenco, or Latin-American music.
Composition is given as an extended option among this program. For composition lessons, we will focus on the study of traditional harmony and counterpoint. This will provide the groundwork that will guide the student towards the fascinating world of writing music. Once achieving a first grade of knowledge on tonality, voicings, inversions, and modulation we will be able to integrate the style of music that the student is willing to write.
